A note about contact forms.

You have a contact form like this one on your site?   I bet you do.  I'll also bet you receive the information in an email that you readily TYPE into your contact manager or CRM (you ARE tracking your web leads, right)?

Getting a few of those emails a week?  Yeah, no big deal.   Getting hundreds?  Now you have a efficiency problem.   It's probably a good portion of someone's day just to check that email and manually type in names and addresses.

A note about email links.

You have email links on your site?   Sure, who doesn't, right?  Your customers like to have this kind of contact information.

Well, know who else likes to get this information?   Spammers.

Spammers use special computer programs to harvest email addresses by the thousands right off of websites.   That's why you may see email addresses listed on some websites in a "munged" format, such as  "webmaster -at- yourcompany dot com", or "webmasterNOSPAM -at- yourcompany dot com". Problem with that is you're forcing your customers to type in the email address, and type it in correctly.

We use a different, dynamic approach.   Our clients' (and our own) email links are created by the browser, but do not exist in the page.   They're there, but they're not really there.   In other words, your customers can read the email addresses, even click the links normally, but a SPAM harvester cannot even see it.
